Turkey Reaffirms Support to DRC in Peace and Security Cooperation

Kinshasa, February 16, 2026 - Turkey has reiterated its commitment to supporting the Democratic Republic of Congo in its pursuit of lasting peace. The announcement came from Turkish Ambassador to the DRC, Murat Ülkü, following a meeting in Kinshasa with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Guy Kabombo Muadiamvita. During the meeting, the ambassador introduced the new Turkish military attaché accredited to the DRC and welcomed the enhanced bilateral cooperation in defense and security between Kinshasa and Ankara. Following this, Minister Kabombo Muadiamvita also met with the Lebanese Ambassador, Haytam Ibrahim, who reaffirmed the fraternal ties between DRC and Lebanon and the shared desire to strengthen bilateral relations. The Congolese minister then met with the Burundian Ambassador, Major General Agricole Mwamba Ntirampeba, to discuss his upcoming official visit to Burundi, which will focus on enhancing defense cooperation between the DRC and Burundi.
