Tillabéri: Defense and Security Forces Patrol Targeted by ISIS-GS
Ayerou, December 6, 2025 - A Defense and Security Forces patrol stationed near the Ayerou customs center in the Tillabéri region was attacked by the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISIS-GS) during the night of Saturday, December 6, around 2:00 a.m.
According to initial reports, the assault left one person injured, though no fatalities were recorded. The attackers also succeeded in seizing a Defense and Security Forces vehicle.
This incident highlights the persistent threat posed by ISIS-GS in western Niger and underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the security forces in securing border and strategic locations.
