TIKTO Community Radio Officially Launches in Téma-Bokin, Passoré Province

Passoré, December 13, 2025 - The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, took part in the inauguration of the TIKTO community radio station in Téma-Bokin, Passoré Province, on Friday. The event was held under the patronage of Louis Modeste Ouédraogo, President of the High Council for Communication, and attended by the Minister in charge of Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosthène Dingara, as well as the station’s founder, Yacouba Jacob Barry.

In his address, the President of the High Council for Communication called on stakeholders to practice self-regulation, emphasizing that responsible media is essential for social cohesion.

Minister Ouédraogo congratulated the station’s founder, highlighting that TIKTO, meaning “solidarity” in the Moorish language, should serve as a symbol of community values and social unity. He stressed the strategic role of community media in promoting recovery, stability, and national progress.

The minister outlined the four core missions of community media:

Mobilizing citizens to support local development and civic engagement.

He also recalled the vision of President Ibrahim Traoré for a sovereign, resilient, and dignified Burkina Faso, urging the media to act as a vector of reliable information, collective hope, and national transformation. “The inauguration of Radio TIKTO marks the beginning of a vision, a hope, and a collective commitment,” the minister said.

Founder Yacouba Jacob Barry expressed gratitude for the support of national authorities and emphasized that Radio TIKTO will position itself as a patriotic media outlet, promoting local initiatives, national talent, and innovative solutions aligned with government priorities.

Radio TIKTO broadcasts on 102.10 FM, covering approximately 18 surrounding localities in the Passoré region.
