Strengthening the Public Water Utility
NIAMEY, Niger - In a move aimed at reinforcing the country’s public water management system, Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine and the Director-General of the Société des Patrimoines des Eaux du Niger (SPEN), Niandou Mounkaila, signed a subsidiary agreement on Friday, November 14.
The agreement retrocedes the financing of the PASEPA Niamey-Tillabéri water supply project to SPEN, marking a significant step in strengthening the institution's operational and financial capacity.
This measure is expected to improve the efficiency of water infrastructure management, enhance the sustainability of ongoing reforms, and contribute to expanding access to potable water in the Niamey-Tillabéri corridor-an area facing rapid population growth and increasing demand for reliable water services.
