South Kivu: Mobile Clinics Reinforce Maternity Wards in Kabare, Walungu, and Kalehe

Par Jean-Marc Okito2 min de lectureEnglish

In South Kivu, mobile clinics staffed by midwives have been deployed to support maternity wards in peri-urban and rural areas affected by conflict, particularly in the territories of Kabare, Kalehe, and Walungu.

These mobile units provide medical and logistical support to local facilities and train and mentor midwives in techniques adapted to contexts of conflict, sexual violence, and gender-based violence.

Nestor Bafunyembaka, vice-president of the midwives’ association, urged local and government authorities to guarantee the safety of the teams in the field.
