Rwandan minister urges political party members to address family-related social
Kigali, Rwanda, March 29, 2026 - Rwanda’s Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Consolée Uwimana, has called on members of the Liberal Party (PL) to play an active role in addressing pressing social challenges affecting families. Speaking at the party’s National Council meeting, Uwimana highlighted key issues including domestic violence, teenage pregnancy, child abuse, trafficking, and drug use, warning that these problems continue to undermine family stability. She stressed that building a secure and capable society begins at the family level, urging parents, communities, and institutions to take responsibility for child upbringing and social cohesion. Uwimana emphasized that resolving family conflicts and strengthening parental roles could significantly reduce many of the country’s social challenges. Liberal Party President Donatille Mukabalisa reaffirmed the party’s commitment to supporting national efforts, calling on members at all levels to contribute to building a stable and resilient society. Authorities say collective action will be key to improving social well-being and supporting Rwanda’s long-term development goals.
