Rwanda and Seychelles Move to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

Victoria, 20 March 2026 - Rwanda and Seychelles have held high-level discussions aimed at expanding cooperation across key sectors, including education, tourism, and agriculture. Seychelles Vice President Sebastien Pillay received Rwanda’s Minister of Labor and Employment, Christine Nkulikiyinka, who delivered greetings from President Paul Kagame and reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to closer ties. According to the Seychelles Presidential Office, the talks focused on strengthening collaboration in priority sectors while exploring new opportunities in trade, including plans for Seychelles to export seafood to the Rwandan market. Both sides also discussed improving service delivery, building institutional capacity, and sharing development experiences to advance sustainable development goals. Vice President Pillay proposed the establishment of a joint mechanism to monitor the implementation of bilateral agreements and ensure effective follow-up. The discussions build on existing cooperation between the two countries, including agreements reached during President Kagame’s 2023 visit to Seychelles, which covered areas such as health, investment, and security. A visa waiver agreement between Rwanda and Seychelles also remains in place, facilitating travel and economic exchange between the two nations.
