DIFFA (November 18-20): The President’s entry into Diffa was marked by vibrant Kanuri cultural ceremonies in Goudoumaria on November 18, featuring spectacular camel and horse fantasia displays, traditional drumming, and colorful attire that reflected local heritage. On November 19, he chaired the Regional Security Council, attended by Minister of State for National Defense General Salifou Modi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces General Moussa Salaou Barmou, and other senior security officials. The council conducted an in-depth review of regional counter-terrorism operations and cross-border security challenges, particularly along Diffa’s volatile eastern frontier. The President also inspected the 204-hectare CDA hydro-agricultural perimeter, a cornerstone of the Great Irrigation Program, rehabilitated at over 1.3 billion CFA francs, emphasizing the government’s focus on agricultural self-sufficiency and rural employment.
