Ouagadougou Court of Appeal Welcomes 20 Newly Sworn-In Magistrates

Ouagadougou, December 12, 2025 - Twenty newly appointed magistrates formally joined the judiciary this Friday at the Ouagadougou Court of Appeal after taking their official oaths.

Presided over by Adama Nana, President of the Court of Appeal, the ceremony was attended by Adama Ouedraogo, President of the High Council of the Judiciary (CSM), alongside senior magistrates who underscored the importance of the oath-taking ritual. Each magistrate declared:

"I swear to faithfully and diligently fulfill my duties, to exercise them with absolute impartiality and respect for the law, to respect professional secrecy, and to conduct myself in all things as a worthy and loyal servant of justice."

The President of the Court highlighted the legal significance of the oath as a mandatory step for all magistrates entering judicial office. Attorney General Pingrédewindé Désiré Sawadogo reminded the new magistrates of the essential values of rigor, integrity, and responsibility, urging them to actively support ongoing reforms aimed at humanizing the judicial system, including community service as an effective alternative to imprisonment.

Following the ceremony, the magistrates were officially declared fit to serve in various jurisdictions, including the High Courts of Ouaga II, Koudougou, Manga, Léo, Ziniaré, Kaya, Pô, Yako, Ouahigouya, Kongoussi, Djibo, and the Koudougou Labor Court, where they will serve as judges or deputy prosecutors.
