Official Inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Philippines in Bamako (December 5, 2025)

Bamako, December 5, 2025 - The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of the Philippines in Bamako was officially inaugurated on Friday during a ceremony presided over by Ambassador Seydou Coulibaly, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The event was attended by Philippine Ambassador to Mali Leslie J. Baja and several distinguished guests.

In his address, the Secretary General, on behalf of Minister Abdoulaye Diop, welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that the consulate gives new impetus to bilateral relations and strengthens diplomatic and consular ties. He also reminded the Honorary Consul of her mission to represent a friendly nation, protect its citizens, and promote exchanges between the two communities, assuring her of the Malian government's support.

Ambassador Baja noted that the opening of the consulate fulfills a commitment made to President Assimi Goïta, praising Mali as a welcoming country, a crossroads of civilizations, and a source of economic opportunities, and reaffirmed Manila's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Bamako.

The Honorary Consul expressed her gratitude to both governments and reaffirmed her dedication to promoting economic, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.

The Honorary Consulate is now operational, located in Hamdallaye ACI 2000, Street 250, near the Lafia Insurance headquarters.
