North Kivu: UNICEF to Close Beni Office Amid Financial Constraints

Beni, North Kivu, DRC - UNICEF confirmed on September 25, 2025, the upcoming closure of its Beni office due to financial constraints. The announcement was made by Foura Sassu Madi, head of the UNICEF office for North Kivu and Maniema, following discussions with the provincial vice-governor.

The restructuring comes amid a serious cash flow crisis, which has already led to the termination of contracts for nearly 130 employees in the DRC. UNICEF emphasized that this is not a full withdrawal: its Goma office will now coordinate all provincial activities. The organization assured that it will maintain sufficient operational and logistical capacity to continue its interventions throughout North Kivu.
