Kibirizi, North Kivu, DRC - Humanitarian authorities reported on October 29 that approximately 44,000 people, representing nearly 9,000 displaced households, have been registered in the Kibirizi health zone between late September and late October.

The majority of the new arrivals come from the Ikobo and Kisimba communities in Walikale territory, fleeing violent clashes between the AFC-M23 armed coalition and Wazalendo groups. Displaced families arrived in two successive waves along the Kyahala-Mirangi-Lusogha axis, reporting urgent needs for food, household supplies, and financial support.

These households join over 7,000 others already settled in the region since July, many of whom recently received assistance from the NGO Mercy Corps. Humanitarian organizations are calling for continued support to address the growing needs of displaced populations in North Kivu.
