Nigerien President Meets Burkinabe Justice Minister to Strengthen Judicial Cooperation

Niamey, December 12, 2025 - His Excellency General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the Republic of Niger and Head of the High Council of Justice, received Mr. Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Burkina Faso, in Niamey on Friday.

The Burkinabe minister is in Niger to participate in the official opening ceremony of the 2025-2026 judicial year, reflecting the close cooperation between Niger and Burkina Faso in judicial and institutional matters.

The high-level audience, attended by Dr. Soumana Boubacar, Minister and Chief of Staff to the President, as well as government spokesperson, and Mr. Alio Daouda, Nigerien Minister of Justice and Human Rights and Minister Delegate for Relations with Institutions, emphasized the commitment of both countries to strengthen exchanges and consultations within the Confederation of Sahel States (CSA) and the Economic and Social Association (ESA) framework.

Discussions focused on justice, rule of law, and human rights, highlighting ongoing efforts to harmonize legal practices and promote institutional cooperation among member states.

This meeting illustrates the continued drive for regional integration in the Sahel, fostering collaboration across judicial and governance structures to improve accountability and the effectiveness of legal systems.
