Niger Pushes Forward Digital Transformation in Postal Services

On October 9, 2025, marking World Post Day, Niger’s Minister of Communications reaffirmed the government’s commitment to an “equitable digital future,” highlighting key initiatives in the country’s digital transformation agenda.

The National Digital Infrastructure Plan aims to raise broadband penetration from 38% to 55% by 2027 through public-private partnerships in fiber optic deployment. Digital postal banking services have expanded financial inclusion, bringing 42,000 new customers in rural areas into the formal financial system, although coverage currently reaches only 15% of postal service points.

Meanwhile, the Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation Authority faces ongoing capacity challenges in regulating rapidly evolving digital markets while safeguarding consumer interests.
