Niger Develops Community-Led Security Communication Strategy

NIAMEY, Niger - Friday, November 28, 2025 - Following the National Community Radio Forum for Inclusive and Responsible Communication (November 25-27, 2025), senior military officials convened with community radio leaders and municipal administrators for a one-day coordination session. The discussions led to the establishment of framework agreements on security alert protocols, the creation of counter-narratives, and standards for responsible crisis reporting.

The Minister of Communication and New Information Technologies, Mr. Adji Ali Salatou, highlighted that “community media constitute a vital link between security forces and civilian populations in our collective effort to combat violent extremism.” The collaborative framework includes regular security briefings for journalists and mechanisms for verifying conflict-related information.
