NGO Launches $70,000 Appeal for ADF Attack Survivors in Lubero

Lubero, North Kivu - 07/02/2026 - Facing a humanitarian emergency in the Lubero territory, the Integrated Federation for Reconstruction and Development (FIRD) has launched a $70,000 fundraising campaign to assist survivors of ADF attacks. The solidarity initiative, named “Save the Survivors of the ADF Massacres,” seeks to provide medical and social care to dozens of victims affected by recent attacks in the Bapere sector and Baswagha chiefdom. According to FIRD, the wounded are in critical condition, with many forced to interrupt treatment due to lack of financial resources. The campaign targets the immediate needs of more than 80 people, including: Over 30 seriously injured individuals hospitalized in various healthcare facilities. More than 40 orphaned children who lost their parents in the massacres. Exorbitant medical costs, which some patients cannot cover. Zaidel Ngolo, coordinator of FIRD, highlighted the scale of the financial needs, noting that some patients require transfers to specialized centers or even treatment abroad. “The need is immense. Some of the injured face medical bills of $2,000 to $3,000. This campaign aims to raise approximately $70,000 to address urgent healthcare needs,” Ngolo explained. The NGO is appealing to individuals, businesses, and all people of goodwill for compassion and generosity to save the lives of those affected by the violence.
