The newly appointed members of the ONC are:

Dr. Salifou Boubé, appointed as Chairperson, a seasoned media and communication expert known for his long-standing involvement in public information strategy and journalism ethics;

Mrs. Marie Ambouka, media professional and advocate for gender equity in communication;

Mr. Abdourahamane Varino, recognized for his background in regulatory law and audiovisual policy; and

Dr. Diallo Amadou Bounty, academic and specialist in digital communication and public opinion studies.

The creation of the ONC responds to the transitional authorities’ objective of fostering a more responsible, transparent, and nationally oriented media environment. The Observatory’s mandate extends across several core functions: monitoring and evaluating media content across print, broadcast, and digital platforms; ensuring compliance with national laws and professional ethics; issuing recommendations to prevent misinformation and incitement; and strengthening the coherence of communication strategies in line with the state’s broader objectives of stability and refoundation.

While the ONC will work in coordination with existing institutions such as the High Council for Communication (CSC), its operational focus will be distinct-emphasizing content analysis, public accountability, and the development of communication standards that reflect national values and priorities.
