NIAMEY, Niger - The government underscored its emphasis on civic mobilization and historical continuity during a series of commemorative events in the capital. On Sunday, November 09, the Minister of the Interior, Public Security and Territorial Administration, General of Division Mohamed Toumba, presided over the National Day of Community Relays, commending their essential role as intermediaries between state institutions and local populations-an ethos closely aligned with President Tiani’s ongoing grassroots tour.

The following day, Monday, November 10, the country marked the 38th anniversary of the death of General Seyni Kountché, Niger’s former head of state. The commemoration served as a symbolic reminder of past eras of military-led governance and was widely interpreted as a nod to the current transition’s effort to frame itself within a legacy of national rectification.
