Bamako, December 5, 2025 - President of the Transition, Assimi Goïta, Head of State and Grand Master of the National Orders, presided over a solemn ceremony at the Koulouba Palace on Friday, December 5, 2025, to present awards to individuals who supported the Malian government in managing the recent hydrocarbon crisis.

A total of 75 people were honored through three decrees signed on November 26, 2025:

16 oil operators and union leaders were elevated to Knight of the National Order of Mali (Decree No. 2025818/PTRM)

31 injured drivers and 27 deceased drivers-including some foreign nationals-received the Silver Star Medal of National Merit with the emblem of the "Standing Lion" (Decrees No. 2025819 and 2025820/PTRM)

According to the Grand Chancellor of the National Orders, the decorations recognize the courage, sense of duty, and patriotism of the recipients, described as “unsung heroes” for risking-and in some cases losing-their lives to guarantee the country’s energy supply during a period when the crisis threatened national stability.
