Mali Introduces Fuel Price Regulation Measures Amid Global Oil Price Surge
Bamako, March 31, 2026 - The Government of Mali has announced new regulatory measures on petroleum product pricing in response to rising global oil costs linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. According to authorities, the decision aims to safeguard national fuel supplies and ensure the continuity of economic activity despite external market pressures. The government also confirmed that it has temporarily waived a portion of customs revenue to help mitigate the impact of price increases on consumers. The Directorate General of Trade, Consumer Affairs, and Competition stressed that any adjustments to fuel prices must strictly comply with the national legal framework. Economic operators have been urged to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to limit the effects of international price volatility on the domestic market. Officials further warned that unjustified price increases will not be tolerated and will be subject to sanctions under existing regulations. The government called for collective responsibility to maintain price stability and protect consumers across the country.
