Mali Harmonizes Passport Prices with AES Confederation
BAMAKO, Mali - The Malian Council of Ministers adopted a draft decree on Wednesday standardizing passport prices in line with the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) travel document framework. The move aims to facilitate free movement of people, goods, and services amid ongoing regional security challenges.
The AES e-passport, introduced on April 18, 2025, meets International Civil Aviation Organization standards and protects personal data. Under the new decree, the standard passport service is set at 45,000 CFA francs, while the premium service costs 90,000 CFA francs - reductions of 10,000 and 20,000 CFA francs respectively from previous rates.
Following Mali’s withdrawal from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger launched the common passport earlier this year, with prices now harmonized across the three countries.
