Major Drug Trafficking Networks Dismantled in Tahoua

TAHOUA, Niger - In a significant crackdown on organized narcotics operations, the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) successfully dismantled major trafficking networks in the Tahoua region.

Concluding on Friday, November 14, operations in the Konni department led to the seizure of over 57 kg of cannabis and tens of thousands of psychotropic tablets, with two high-profile suspects arrested.

Earlier, on Thursday, November 13, a separate operation in Baga, near Tahoua, intercepted 9,380 Diazepam tablets and five bricks of cannabis, targeting a Nigerian cross-border trafficking network.

Authorities emphasized that these operations demonstrate the increasing sophistication and effectiveness of Niger’s specialized counter-narcotics units, reinforcing the government’s commitment to curbing drug-related crime and protecting public health and security.
