Major Drug Trafficking Networks Dismantled in Multiple Regions Through Coordinated Operations

TAHOUA/KONNI, Niger - November 14 - A series of high-impact counter-narcotics operations has dealt a significant blow to transnational drug trafficking networks, underscoring Niger's strengthened interdiction and intelligence capabilities.

• In Konni department, the Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) dismantled a major international trafficking network, seizing 57 kg of high-grade cannabis and thousands of psychotropic tablets on Friday, November 14. Two high-profile suspects were arrested. Investigators uncovered advanced concealment techniques and distribution routes extending across borders into neighboring states.

• In a separate intelligence-led operation in Baga, near Tahoua, on Thursday, November 13, security forces intercepted 9,380 Diazepam tablets and five bricks of cannabis, successfully disrupting a Nigerian cross-border trafficking ring that had been exploiting remote desert corridors to evade authorities.
