Lualaba: Three NGOs denounce the "excessive" salaries of FONAREV executives
Three civil society organisations - CASMIA-G, JUSTICIA ASBL and Agir pour le Patriotisme, les Droits Humains et la Justice (APDHJ) - issued a joint statement on 9 October condemning the "excessive salaries and benefits" granted to officials of the National Fund for the Reparation of Victims of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (FONAREV). According to these NGOs, the ministerial decree of 5 March 2025, signed by the former Minister for Human Rights, sets exorbitant salaries that contradict the government's policy of reducing the living standards of institutions.
They believe that these funds should primarily serve the victims rather than FONAREV executives and are calling on the current Minister for Human Rights to revoke this decision. Radio Okapi reports that it has been unable to obtain a response from FONAREV officials.
