Congolese Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka opened the 19th meeting of the ICGLR Regional Inter-Ministerial Committee in Kinshasa on Thursday, November 13, ahead of the Summit of Heads of State. The gathering took place amid high regional tensions.

Held under the theme “Consolidating Peace and Security for Sustainable Development in the Great Lakes Region,” the meeting provided a platform for the Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Integration, Floribert Anzuluni, to reaffirm commitments under the 2006 Nairobi Pact and denounce alleged armed aggression against the DRC by a member state.

Both officials stressed the urgency of turning political commitments into concrete actions, urging member states to strengthen the regional monitoring mechanism to foster effective cooperation for peace, security, and development.

The session brought together high-level regional and international officials, setting the stage for the ICGLR Summit, scheduled for November 15.
