Kinshasa Journalists Join “Kinshasa Ezo Bonga” Campaign for a Cleaner City
Kinshasa, DRC - Around 100 journalists from the National Union of the Congolese Press (UNPC) took part in the “Kinshasa ezo bonga” programme on Saturday, 25 October 2025, demonstrating their commitment to a cleaner and healthier city.
The initiative, launched by Governor Daniel Bumba, saw journalists gather at Place des Evolués in Gombe, equipped with shovels, rakes, and brooms, to clean this key crossroads in the capital.
Jean Marie Kassamba, president of UNPC/Kinshasa, emphasized that the action is meant to support city council efforts and set a positive example beyond the usual role of critique. Rachel Kitsita, UNPC treasurer, welcomed the initiative, urging the press to remain civic-minded and socially responsible.
Kassamba announced that the operation will rotate every two weeks across various municipalities-including Lingwala, Bandalungwa, Kisenso, Limete, Maluku, Kalamu, Bumbu, and Makala-to amplify the impact of the programme and foster greater citizen engagement in urban cleanliness.
