Kalemie, Tanganyika, DRC - On 16 October 2025, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) delivered non-food assistance to 3,544 displaced families residing at the Gare-Makala site, approximately 30 kilometres from Kalemie.

The aid, distributed by the DRC Red Cross under the Rapid Response (UniRR) project funded by BHA and ECHO, included kitchen utensils, mats, soap, and sanitary towels for women and girls. This support, part of the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) component, aims to improve conditions for over 15,000 people displaced by armed violence in North Kivu, South Kivu, and Tanganyika.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to UNICEF, noting that the assistance brings hope to victims of conflict and helps alleviate the hardships of displacement.
