JNIM Claims Multiple Attacks in Mopti and Ségou

Mopti/Ségou, January 29-30, 2026 - The JNIM (Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims) reported killing an intelligence agent accused of collaborating with the Russian army and a member of pro-FAMa militias, while seizing the agent’s weapon near Bayma, Mopti, on Thursday, January 29, 2026. The group also claimed responsibility for an attack on a gathering of pro-FAMa militiamen in the village of Nayo, Ségou, on Friday, January 30, 2026, resulting in: 8 militiamen killed 5 wounded 6 motorcycles seized These incidents highlight ongoing insurgent activity and persistent security challenges in central Mali.
