JNIM Ambushes Tanker Convoy on Bougouni-Bamako Road

Bamako, December 9, 2025 - JNIM militants launched an attack on a tanker convoy escorted by the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) along the Bougouni-Bamako road, setting several vehicles on fire and causing casualties among soldiers and drivers.

The army swiftly secured the area and called on civilians to report suspicious activity. The incident ends a brief period of relative calm, disrupting fuel supplies from Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. Analysts note that the attack is part of JNIM’s strategy to isolate Bamako and exacerbate shortages.
