Bamako, December 6, 2025 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) announced that it ambushed a military convoy escorting fuel tankers between Bougouni and Bamako.

The attack caused dozens of fuel tankers to be set ablaze and resulted in the deaths of numerous Malian soldiers and drivers. The convoy, consisting of approximately 200 tankers arriving from Ivory Coast, was largely destroyed. Only a handful of vehicles reached Bamako under air cover.

This ambush has worsened the ongoing fuel crisis, leaving the capital and surrounding regions struggling with severe fuel shortages.
