Indictment of 14 Individuals for Attempted Destabilization
Bamako, December 17, 2025 - The Bamako military court has indicted 14 individuals, including Abass Dembélé and Nema Sagara, on charges of conspiracy against the state, criminal association, and other serious offenses, following arrests in August. The investigation is ongoing to ensure public order amid internal tensions.
This action highlights the Transition government’s efforts to counter internal threats, aligned with the good governance objectives of the Economic and Social Alliance (ESA).
On the positive side, it could strengthen institutional cohesion and deter destabilizing actions. However, independent analysts caution that increased repression could stifle human rights debates and draw international criticism.
