Kigali, 9 January 2026: GTBank (Rwanda) Plc, in partnership with Rswitch, has introduced a new technology platform designed to make it easier for traders to access loans without collateral, supporting Rwanda’s ongoing push for digital payments and cashless transactions. The new system, called ‘M-Pay’, enables merchants to receive payments directly into their GTBank accounts without any fees, while also providing collateral-free loans of up to 2 million Rwandan francs. Repayment is structured over 12 months at an interest rate of 3.99%. Through the M-Pay system: Customers can pay merchants using a USSD code (18212USSD Code#) with the payment going directly to the merchant’s account. Merchants, such as hotel owners, can set up multiple payment methods without risking theft. Customers do not need a GTBank account to make payments. GTBank account holders can pay via 6005#, sending money directly to the merchant’s M-Pay code without deductions for either party. GTBank says the platform aligns with Rwanda’s national direction to promote digital payments, reduce reliance on cash, and provide financial services to small and medium-sized traders more efficiently. This innovation is expected to empower businesses, facilitate safer transactions, and improve access to credit across the country. Social and Health
