GSIM Landmine Attack Kills Six Militia Members Near Aguelhok
Kidal, February 18, 2026 - The Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (GSIM) announced that it targeted a military vehicle carrying Malian army personnel and Russian mercenaries with a landmine near Tiskdouine, on the outskirts of Aguelhok, on Wednesday evening, February 18, 2026. According to reports, the explosion killed six militia members affiliated with General El Hadj Ag Gamou, including the son of the sub-prefect of Tajamert, who was serving as acting prefect of Aguelhok. Details of the Attack The victims were escorting a convoy of Russian mercenaries tasked with securing logistical supplies. Local sources indicate that several of the deceased had previously been implicated in the deaths of dozens of civilians in the same area.
