Geneva, November 20, 2025 - The transparency and traceability of critical minerals from eastern DRC were at the center of a high-level roundtable convened by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa at the Henri Dunant Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue.

The meeting brought together international investors, development partners, and representatives of major global mining companies to design a strengthened system for tracking minerals from extraction to export. The initiative aims to curb smuggling of minerals to neighboring countries and enhance the DRC’s credibility in mining governance.

Minister of Mines Louis Watum Kabamba denounced ongoing hypocrisy surrounding the current trade, highlighting the urgent need for accountability and structured oversight. Alexandre Liebeskind of the Henri Dunant Centre emphasized that improved traceability could transform Congolese resources into a driver of regional stability, development, and lasting peace.
