End of Temporary Fuel Agreement and Resumption of JNIM Attacks

Par Jean-Marc Okito2 min de lectureEnglish

Bamako, December 6, 2025 - A temporary fuel agreement between the Malian Military Council and JNIM officially ended on Friday, December 5, 2025. The accord, which had been overseen by Colonel Lasséni Diallo, head of counterterrorism at the National Intelligence Agency (ANR), during a meeting with Amadou Koufa, leader of Katiba Macina, did not hold.

The termination of the agreement was immediately followed by a JNIM ambush of tanker trucks on Saturday, December 6, marking the resumption of attacks. The last similar attack had occurred on November 6 near Kati, targeting a convoy from Senegal.

This development highlights the fragile nature of temporary security arrangements and the ongoing threat posed by armed groups to Mali’s supply lines.
