Eleven Malian Officers Removed Following Coup Attempt Allegations
BAMAKO, Mali - On October 8, 2025, eleven officers, including two generals, were formally removed from Mali’s armed and security forces. The decision, signed by transitional President Assimi Goïta, follows the findings of a Council of Inquiry investigating suspicions of a coup d’état.
All eleven officers have been in custody since mid-August for allegedly attempting to destabilize the institutions of the republic. They remain detained at a secret location, with neither families nor legal representatives informed of their conditions. Observers indicate that the case may soon proceed to the courts.
