DRC: teachers demand better socio-professional conditions
On International Teachers' Day, 5 October, the Synergie des syndicats des enseignants de la RDC (Synergy of Teachers' Unions of the DRC) called on the government to urgently improve teachers' social and salary conditions. They also warned of the negative effects of poorly supervised free education in primary schools, which increases the workload without compensation. The government, through the Minister of State for Education, Raïssa Malu, had nevertheless reaffirmed its commitment to improving these conditions despite budgetary and security constraints.
