DRC: Kinshasa and French Delegation Discuss MONUSCO Mandate Renewal
Deputy Prime Minister of the Interior, Jacquemain Shabani Lukoo, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, received a French delegation in Kinshasa on November 12, 2025. The delegation was led by Frédéric Jung, Director of the United Nations Department at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and accompanied by Ambassador Rémi Maréchaux.
The meeting focused on the upcoming renewal of MONUSCO’s mandate, amid ongoing security concerns in the eastern DRC. Frédéric Jung stressed the importance of heightened attention to civilian protection and humanitarian access, praising the constructive nature of the discussions.
The current MONUSCO mandate is set to expire on December 20, 2025.
