DRC Government Adopts Roadmap for Human Rights in Mining Sector

Kinshasa - December 17, 2025 - The Congolese government has adopted a pragmatic and measurable roadmap to guide actions in the mining sector until 2026, following a seminar held from December 15 to 17 in Kinshasa focused on operational strategies for the National Plan of Voluntary Principles.

At the closing ceremony, Minister of Human Rights Samuel Mbemba highlighted that the recommendations are now a key benchmark for effective implementation, stressing that the roadmap should be an operational tool rather than a mere administrative document.

Minister of Mines Louis Watum pledged to implement the resolutions across all extractive companies, aiming to promote responsible mining that respects human rights, protects the environment, and benefits local communities.
