DRC: Aimé Boji Named Sacred Union’s Sole Candidate for National Assembly Presidency

Kinshasa, le 21 octobre 2025 - National Deputy Aimé Boji Sangara, representing Walungu in South Kivu and former Minister of Industry, was officially designated on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as the Sacred Union’s sole candidate for the presidency of the National Assembly, succeeding Vital Kamerhe.

The announcement was made by André Mbata, Permanent Secretary of the Sacred Union within the presidential majority, who emphasized that Boji’s designation came through a consensus around the coalition’s moral authority, President Félix Tshisekedi.

Mbata called on Sacred Union deputies, as well as the eleven other candidates who had initially expressed interest, to rally behind Boji’s candidacy. The move aims to ensure unity and maintain stability within the parliamentary majority ahead of the election for the Assembly’s leadership.

Boji’s appointment underscores the Sacred Union’s strategy of consolidating its influence in the legislature while signaling continuity in alignment with President Tshisekedi’s political vision. Analysts note that his selection could reinforce cohesion among majority deputies and facilitate the advancement of the government’s legislative agenda.
