DR Congo Reports More Than 500 Ebola Deaths as Outbreak Continues
KINSHASA, DR Congo, July 6, 2026 - The Democratic Republic of the Congo has reported 1,561 confirmed Ebola cases and 506 deaths, as health authorities continue efforts to contain the outbreak in several parts of the country.
The latest figures, released by the government on Sunday, indicate that the outbreak remains a major public health challenge, particularly in eastern regions where Ebola has historically been most prevalent.
Health authorities said response measures remain underway, including patient testing, treatment, contact tracing, and community awareness campaigns aimed at limiting further transmission of the virus.
Officials have urged the public to remain vigilant by avoiding contact with suspected Ebola cases and promptly reporting symptoms to health facilities to support early detection and containment efforts.
