Bamako, December 21, 2025 - The High Council of Malians Abroad (CSDM) has urged the National Transitional Council (CNT) to incorporate the Malian diaspora into the 2026 Finance Law. The appeal aims to mobilize productive investments representing 7% of GDP and to modernize consular services, enhancing the protection and support of citizens living abroad.

This initiative highlights the strategic role of the diaspora in Mali’s economic and social development, reflecting the Transitional Government’s efforts toward greater inclusion. If implemented effectively, it could stimulate inclusive growth and strengthen ties with Malian communities overseas.

However, analysts caution that without specific budget allocations and robust monitoring mechanisms, these measures risk remaining largely symbolic amid ongoing challenges linked to migration and diaspora engagement.
