Congolese Government Urges Stability Amid Crises in Provincial Assemblies
Kinshasa, DRC - The Congolese government has voiced serious concern over rising institutional crises in several provincial assemblies, including Mai-Ndombe, Lomami, and Kwango, during the Council of Ministers meeting on Friday, 24 October 2025.
Government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya, relaying the Council’s report, said that the Deputy Minister of the Interior outlined measures aimed at restoring order and stability in the affected institutions. The tensions, officials noted, stem from internal governance disputes and interference by some political figures attempting to exercise control over provincial administrations from Kinshasa.
To address the situation, the Ministry of the Interior plans to convene leaders of political parties to emphasize the importance of preserving institutional stability, particularly as the country continues to grapple with serious security challenges in its eastern provinces. Analysts warn that unchecked political interference could exacerbate tensions and hinder effective governance at the provincial level.
