NIAMEY, Niger - Thursday, November 27, 2025 - The World Food Programme (WFP) held its annual comprehensive review of the Country Strategic Plan (2023-2025), under the chairmanship of the Minister Delegate for Budget, Mamane Sidi. The one-day technical session highlighted major accomplishments, including support to more than 3.8 million beneficiaries through integrated resilience and emergency interventions, the provision of regular school meals to 380,000 children, and the ecological restoration of 300,000 hectares of degraded land.

WFP’s Country Director in Niger, Ms. Kinday Samba, presented a detailed economic analysis demonstrating that sustained investments in land rehabilitation could help the country avoid up to $9.7 billion in humanitarian expenditures by 2055. The review also marked the start of preliminary planning for the next strategic programming cycle (2027-2031), with a strong focus on aligning future interventions with the third pillar of the Republic Refounding Program, which prioritizes strengthening national production systems to advance food and economic sovereignty.
