The fighting began around 4:00 a.m., when the Wazalendo launched coordinated attacks on rebel positions. Hours of heavy and light weapons fire followed, plunging the civilian population into fear. The situation shifted after the arrival of AFC/M23 reinforcements from Birundule, forcing the Wazalendo to withdraw. The four villages are now under rebel control.
