China-Niger Cooperation: 25th Chinese Medical Team Welcomed in Niamey

Niamey, December 11, 2025 - The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene held a ceremony to welcome the 25th Chinese medical team and bid farewell to the 24th. Colonel Garba Hakimi, Minister of Health, and His Excellency Lyu Guijun, Chinese Ambassador to Niger, attended the event, delivering speeches highlighting the significance of medical cooperation between the two nations.

Minister Garba Hakimi praised the 24th team for their professionalism and dedication, and wished the 25th team success in their mission. He thanked China for its continued support of Niger’s health sector and presented certificates of honor to the members of the 24th medical mission, emphasizing their exemplary role in the Sino-Nigerien partnership.

Ambassador Lyu Guijun highlighted that since 1976, over 780 Chinese healthcare professionals have served in Niger, caring for thousands of patients. He commended the 24th team and expressed confidence that the 25th team would continue to strengthen cooperation in the health sector.

This historic collaboration exemplifies the commitment of both countries to building a global health community, reinforcing solidarity, sustainable development, and deepening the China-Niger partnership.
