Burkina Faso: Ministry of Economy and Finance Outlines Ambitious 2026 Prospects

Ouagadougou, December 18, 2025 - Under the chairmanship of Minister of Economy and Finance Aboubakar Nacanabo, the second ordinary session of the Ministerial Sectoral Administrative Council (CASEM) for 2025 reviewed the ministry’s performance and presented its outlook for 2026, emphasizing consolidation and acceleration.

As of mid-December 2025, tax revenues exceeded 3,100 billion CFA francs, while the Patriotic Support Fund reached over 209 billion CFA francs. Among other milestones, Burkina Faso’s removal from the FATF grey list was highlighted as a key achievement enhancing economic attractiveness.

The ministry’s 2026 ambitions focus on structural transformation, modernization of administration, and tangible impacts on the population, including:

Mobilizing over 3,400 billion CFA francs in domestic revenue and 200 billion CFA francs for the Patriotic Support Fund;

Financing 200 billion CFA francs in sovereign resources for the first phase of the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso highway;

Supporting industrialization and consolidating agricultural, livestock, and fisheries initiatives, achieving a cereal coverage rate of 126%;

Advancing presidential initiatives in quality health and education, and implementing Faso Yaar;

Accelerating digital transformation of state economic and financial services, including modernized land management, dematerialized public procurement, transformed Treasury services, and optimized state banking holdings.

Minister Nacanabo emphasized that 2026 would be a year of mobilization, transformation, and anticipation, building on resilience to drive accelerated economic growth, improved public services, and strengthened governance.
