Burkina Faso Foreign Minister Holds Dialogue with Journalists on Diplomatic Priorities
Ouagadougou, December 13, 2025 - Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabè Abroad, H.E. Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, on Friday held an extensive exchange with media professionals as part of the second edition of Press Day - Diplomacy.
The meeting, which took place on December 12, brought together around 20 Burkinabè journalists for an open discussion on key foreign policy issues, including bilateral and multilateral cooperation, regional integration, and the mobilization of the Burkinabè diaspora.
According to participants, the discussions focused on Burkina Faso’s overall diplomatic orientation, the challenges and prospects of the AES Confederation, evolving cooperation with the Russian Federation and other strategic partners, the strengthening of ties with neighboring and African countries, as well as the internal functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Traoré said Burkina Faso is undergoing a process of radical transformation and renewal of its diplomatic relations, in line with the principles of the People’s Progressive Revolution. He reaffirmed President Ibrahim Traoré’s determination to build partnerships based on mutual respect and shared benefits.
Within this framework, he noted, Burkina Faso has consolidated its partnership with Russia while expanding cooperation with other strategic partners. On the AES Confederation, the minister highlighted achievements and the synergy of actions carried out by the three member states to strengthen the bloc.
He also pointed to efforts by the authorities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to enhance Burkina Faso’s international standing, ensure the country’s voice is heard globally, and challenge persistent stereotypes.
The exchange was described by participants as a constructive and candid dialogue, reflecting a shared commitment to transparency and mutual understanding between public authorities and the media. Minister Traoré praised the work of journalists and pledged to further develop platforms for regular engagement with the press.
The Press Day - Diplomacy initiative is organized by the Directorate of Communication and Press Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the objective of strengthening collaboration between Burkinabè diplomats and the national media.
