Mali - October 17, 2025 - Mali has hosted the third edition of the West African Internal Audit Days, a key regional gathering for professionals in control, inspection, and internal auditing. Held from October 16 to 17, the event brought together experts from ten countries, including the eight member states of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), along with Guinea and Mauritania.

The conference served as a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, focusing on promoting good governance, harmonizing regional audit practices, and aligning them with international standards set by the Global Institute of Internal Auditing.

Organizers emphasized the importance of equipping members with the necessary skills and certifications to conduct audits that meet evolving international norms. “This is a valuable opportunity for professionals to share experiences and strengthen their role in ensuring accountability across African institutions,” said one of the coordinators.

The Union reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sound and effective management in both public and private sectors across the continent. The two-day event concluded with an audience granted by Mali’s transitional president, General Assimi Goïta, who welcomed participants and commended their efforts to enhance transparency and good governance in the region.
