Ansongo: Authorities Inspect New Targada Gold Mining Site to Halt Gold Panning
On November 27, 2025, administrative, political, and military authorities in Ansongo conducted an official visit to the newly discovered Targada gold mining site, identified just 24 hours earlier by local residents.
The delegation was led by Acting Prefect Mohamed Ag Alwali and included the coordinator of FAMa, the commander of the gendarmerie brigade, the head of the National Guard section, the Ansongo police commissioner, and the mayor of the commune.
Located southeast of Ansongo, about 1 km north of the high school, the site immediately attracted attention due to the probable gold deposit.
Verify compliance with safety measures, including the immediate cessation of all gold panning activities
